Talk about instant payback! On August 18th, a driver who turned out to be legally intoxicated encountered two missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints walking along a road near DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. For some reason, he decided to flip them the bird.
However, the distraction, combined with his intoxication and the fact that he was also holding a cigarette, caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Benjamin Brewer of Bainbridge, Ind, jumped a curb and drove over a ground wire attached to a utility pole, which launched the car about 12 feet in the air until it landed upside down. After a breathalizer detected a .17 alcohol level, Brewer was arrested and jailed, but apparently did not require hospitalization. The missionaries, identified as Scott Brezenski and Myles Anderton, were not hurt. Brezenski is from Missoula, Montana and Anderton is from Hurricane, Utah.
The DePauw subsequently reported that Brewer pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more. He was sentenced to one day in prison and ordered to pay $820 in fines and court fees; in addition, his driver’s license is suspended for 30 days, and he'll have to use a probationary license for 180 days thereafter.
Thou shalt not trifle with the Lord's Anointed! LOLOL!
But wouldn't it be something if Benjamin Brewer ended up joining the LDS Church as a result of this encounter?
