Update December 29th: See updated post for several new developments, including the arrest of a woman who allegedly helped Susan Brock destroy evidence. In addition, Fulton Brock is seeking a divorce from Susan Brock.

All previous posts on this case available HERE, with the most recent post appearing first.

The wife of a member of the Maricopa County (Arizona) Board of Supervisors has been arrested and charged with various counts relating to the sexual abuse of a minor. Primary stories from the Arizona Republic, KSAZ Channel 10 (with video), and the Phoenix New Times (arrest and reaction).

48-year-old Susan M. Brock, who's married to District 1 Supervisor Fulton Brock, was arrested on Tuesday October 26th, 2010 on suspicion of having a three-year affair with a 17-year-old boy. Susan is being held without bond on two counts of molestation of a child and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. A status hearing for Brock has been scheduled for November 3rd, with a preliminary hearing to follow on November 8th. Susan Brock has since pleaded not guilty to all charges; a total of 15 different charges are enumerated in this newer post.

Susan Brock is accused of picking the unidentified boy up from his home or school, and committing as many as 30 sexual acts in her car, her home, her mother's home and secluded areas of the city. The acts included masturbatory conduct and oral sex; in other instances, Brock allegedly used three vibrating massagers to stimulate the boy's penis to the point of ejaculation. No actual intercourse took place. The alleged affair was uncovered when family friends intercepted messages on the boy's iPod Touch that included references to sex acts and the discovery of a relationship between the victim and Brock. The friends told the teen's parents; in turn, the victim and his parents contacted police on Friday October 22nd.

Oh, and get a load of this. The New Times tells us that the boy's teenage girl friend got dragged into it, too. Because the girl friend's parents forbade their daughter from seeing the victim, Susan Brock set up meetings between the two kids, where she provided them with condoms and let them have sex at her house, presumably when her husband wasn't home.

KPHO Channel 5 also identifies Susan Brock as a real estate agent working for Gary Call. When alerted that Brock had been arrested, Call reacted with shock and said he had severed her from his company, although as of October 28th, she wass still listed HERE at the original time of this post (her name has since been deleted).

Fulton Brock says he's stunned by the allegations and said, "You think you know someone after 28 years [of marriage], and I need answers as much as police officers do". The Brock family are devout members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fulton Brock then delivered the following statement:

"My life and that of my family's was upended last night. Police officers arrested my wife of twenty-eight years and the mother of our three children. She was informed that she was being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year old. Even with this statement I am not sure how to express what such a shocking emotional punch to your heart and family feels like. I am stunned. My children are flabbergasted. You think you know someone after 28 years and I need answers as much as police officers do. I want so much to believe these allegations are not true, but if they are, I am appalled and crushed. I am a religious man. I ask all to pray for our family and those involved so that justice may best be served."

Unfortunately, some on the "Ex-Mormon Recovery Board" have no inclination to pray for Fulton Brock. One person wrote regarding Brock, "...this SOB was in my stake in Chandler at one time when I lived there. He was arrogant. One time, for his campaign sign he took a picture of his family, and part of the Mesa Temple was in the background. I believe he had to take those down and redo his signs".

Now you understand why I find it difficult to stomach many ex-Mormons. For those who do move on with their lives after leaving the Church, God bless them, I'm all for them. But many ex-Mo's want to wallow in self-pity and wage war against the Church. Sorry, but I just can't relate to such people. Most people simply don't enjoy the company of a chronic crank.

  1. I have known Fulton Brock personally and professionally for 30 years. If there was anyone LESS arrogant -- or more honest, genuine or dedicated than he, I don't know who that person might be. A true friend. -- Don Edwards Dallas, TX

  2. I have only recently become acquainted with the family but I and my family felt Fulton Brock to be a very compationate and caring person. I am sorry for those who feel that they need to criticize someone whose life has been really changed in the last little while. Let's have a little sympathy for those that are victims of this case.

I have known Fulton for 25 years. He is an innocent victim in his wife's philandering. Like she told the boy "I'll commit suicide if my husband ever finds out."

I have an interesting observation about when I read comments about what a hard time some Mormons have after leaving the church: why is it I never hear from converts to the LDS church any regrets or problems stemming from leaving their old church. They are happy in their new-found religion. They don't look back, they look forward!
